Parents! Become a Volunteer with your child(ren)'s Scout Group
Share the adventure of a lifetime with your kids...
Make memories you'll keep forever.
Have you ever thought you might like to be a leader? It's fun, it's easy and it's a great way to share the fun with your kids! Read all about it in Five Reasons and More to Join Scouting.
Scout Groups cannot exist without the dedicated volunteer leaders who oversee the Scouting sections. Many adult volunteers are needed for each Group to run efficiently and share the responsibilities and enjoyment of being "Scouters". The Beaver Colony must have a minimum ratio of one leader for every five Beaver Scouts and the other sections must have a minimum ratio of one leader for every six Scouting youth members. Safe Scouting protocol also requires "two-deep" leadership where one leader is never alone with the Scouting youth.
It's easy...
We'll help you every step of the way. You'll receive a personal interview, provide us with personal references, and apply for a Police Records Check. With one-on-one help from an experienced coach, you'll participate in a three-month orientation and probation period where you'll learn all the basics to help you provide great programs for youth.
Once you become a leader, you're provided with further training and plenty of tools and support to help you on your way. You can attend courses and workshops, you'll receive Leader magazine every month, and you can find lots of resources on the Scouts Canada website.
It's interesting...
There is no limit to what you can learn! Outdoor camping techniques, crafts, games, and leadership training are only a few of the valuable skills you'll gain as a leader.
It's fun...
You'll meet other parents and be part of a great team committed to providing safe, fun and interesting activities for kids. We need dedicated adults to help offer adventure and education for young people. If you can commit 12 - 14 hours per month, you can make a difference in the lives of many kids, and help shape a better world for tomorrow.
We need parents just like you!
